Why Erik is going to PAX East and Supports Dickwolves.
GOD I LOVE FEMNAZIS! “trust a fat ugly bitch to cry the loudest about the prospect of being raped” – Ashley

See that above image? Its fucking hilarious. Why? Not because rape is funny but because rape by mythical creatures made of dicks is fucking hilarious.
Enter Kirbybits. Angry ‘Rape Survivor’ who feels threatened by nerds and PAX East. I will not be linking her blog because she does not deserve more hits. I will state this is a rant by me and does not cover the views of Nerdfit blah blah blah.
She got the above t-shirt removed, bragged about it on her blog and then complains when people are calling her a vapid cunt. Science? Probably.
PAX East was my favorite convention ever. Then anger mcthundercunt comes along and raises a shit storm about how OH GOD ITS SCARY GOING TO PAX SINCE THERE IS SO MANY MEN. Well sweetheart, the gaming world is mostly comprised of men. Welcome to life. We are happy to have women around in our ‘Gaming world’ but not when your going to raise a shit storm over booth babes and rape jokes.
The following is from her blog:
Penny Arcade’s continued use of rape as a punch line on their merchandise, and their sale of that merchandise on their site and at their events, is poisoning video game culture and video game fan events. If their charity work and structuring their cons to be less creepy to women were in the name of positively changing the perception of video games and gamers, then I do not understand their decision to pander to a puerile, sexist portion of their fan base, especially when it is so starkly prohibiting the participation of the people whose lives are being used as a punch line. In short: Why have they stopped following Wheaton’s Law?
All I hear is ‘WAH WAH WAH WAH WAH WAH’.
I’ve been through hell and back. Penny Arcade and many other people have made jokes about shit I’ve personally experienced. You know what I do? I suck it up and laugh at it. Why? Because you can’t take life too seriously.
For the record – I will be wearing my Rape Clock to PAX EAST as a statement against stupid people who can’t take a joke.

I might have to make a Rape hat or something.
If I had the funds to go to PAX East, I would totally blast Sublime’s “Date Rape” or have George Carlin’s famous “Rape CAN Be Funny” monologue on a boombox.
Okay, I now have to go to PAX East and take as many Viagra as I can and just be Super Bonerman.
Shit doesn’t stop being funny because you are going through it or you went through it at some point. Either it was never funny or you just lost your sense of humor. Either way your a huge faggot for changing your tune. So congratulations to Erik for being in the top1% strong character
Women don’t avoid nerds because they’re intimidated. Most do it just because they don’t like us and consider us weird. Nothing wrong with that. I think it’s weird to watch grown men throwing a ball around.
That bitch is stupid as shit and I don’t think the phrase “anger mcthundercunt” has ever been more appropriately employed. Nowadays people take shit way to seriously. Look, if you’re not entertained by it. Don’t try to ruin other people’s entertainment. It’s not like we’ll stop thinking it’s funny. All she accomplished was making hoards of angry nerds laugh at her.
Sorry for the response rant. You should listen to this man. Getting Awesome changed my life.
Have you ever been raped? Attacked in any way? I bet you know people who have. I know I do, and I’ve seen how much they still hurt from it, even when people aren’t making jokes about the subject. I’ve seen a dear friend suffer from flashbacks just by being exposed to this kind of idiotic humor. You wouldn’t make jokes about a soldier’s PTSD, so why that of someone who was raped?
Also, why the fuck wouldn’t you want more women around PAX and gaming in general? Seriously! I like getting laid, especially by people who share my interests.
It’s funny how you’re talking out of both sides of your mouth here. “You shouldn’t encourage this kind of sexism with rape jokes… BUT MAN I SURE LOVE ME SOME DICKSHEATHS AT CONS.” And Erik already addressed your point: He’s been through some serious bullshit, but can still laugh when people joke about whatever the hell he’s been through. To put it another way, and from my own perspective, there have been a lot of times when people have joked about stuff that I find really offensive, but I didn’t get butthurt because I knew they were just joking about it. For example, if I took everything at face value without having a sense of humor about it, I wouldn’t be able to enjoy EDM because of all the bigotry. And if I were to complain about the bigotry, I’d look like a moron because none of the people on EDM are actually bigots.
So, wanting to have sex makes me sexist, and is the equivalent of wearing a clock encouraging rape?
Seriously, there is no equivalence here between wanting and enjoying sex and wearing a clock that only points to rape. I know of lots of people who like sex, but I haven’t found anyone who enjoyed being raped.
And Erik did not in the least address my point – he is encouraging an atmosphere that discourages female participation. I wouldn’t go to an event run by a guy with a rape clock, and I’d discourage anyone I know from doing the same.
BTW – that much Viagra will have serious health concerns.
Ah, I see now–you’re just an idiot. Right then.
On the other hand, I’d be doing you a disservice to leave it at that. Wanting/liking sex doesn’t make you sexist. Listing sex as a main draw to the idea of having women at conventions does, and you did, so you are.
And he’s not “encouraging an atmosphere that discourages female participation”–he’s encouraging an atmosphere that discourages participation from people who have no sense of humor, which is something I can get behind. You wouldn’t go to an event run by a guy with a rape clock? Well that’s your loss really, since I’ve always known Nerdfit to have the best panels at any convention to go to–but then, you hate humor anyways, so I guess you’re not really missing out by not going. I hate to think you also encourage others not to go, but then you’re not very persuasive, so it’s no big deal.
And finally, no shit taking a truckload of Viagra will cause health problems. It’d also be incredibly expensive. I was speaking in jest, since I don’t even have the money to go to PAX East in the first place. Oh wait, I forgot–NO SENSE OF HUMOR IN THIS GUY.
So your only thesis is that rape jokes are funny, so they are okay. That’s pathetic.
There are only two messages one sends my wearing a “rape clock”:
1) you condone rape
2) you think rape is funny
So you either support or find hilarious an act that causes terrible harm to another human being. I’d rather not have a sense of humor.
I will give you one thing, I did poorly phrase my original comment about sex, but at least I’m not the one calling women “dicksheaths”.
Goddammit you really are just a moron. I used the term “dicksheaths” as an insult towards you, as a way of highlighting your sexism.
Time and time again you’ve completely missed the point. It’s not the humor that makes the jokes okay, it’s the fact that they are made without malicious intent. The only people who see malice where there is none are people like you and Kirbybitch who insist on getting butthurt over nothing.
I know for a fact that Erik does not condone rape, and he already stated that he doesn’t think rape is funny, so the only thing left by process of elimination is the simple fact that you are wrong.
When someone sees something out of context that seems offensive or hurtful, intent doesn’t matter. Without any other context, someone wearing a rape clock at the very least looks like a douche who thinks rape is a good punchline. Erik and his audience might understand the context of a joke, but a random visitor to the site or a panel is well within their right to see it as offensive. If Erik doesn’t think rape is funny, why does he keep using it as a punchline to a joke like his ‘rape donation’?
Also, personal attacks don’t win an argument, even on the internet.
Also? Wearing a rape clock to make a statement in order to hurt someone? Malice.
The personal attacks aren’t a part of my argument as much as they are a product of your stupidity angering me. It may seem like they are together, as they appear right next to each other, but they are not.
I don’t have a problem with seeing something as offensive when they don’t get the joke. That’s always going to happen, even when the joke doesn’t tread into offensive territory. It’s something that’s seen a lot in satire, and it continues throughout any medium where something is being said that doesn’t reflect the speakers actual thoughts and/or opinions. What I have a problem with is people making problems where there are none rather than trying to understand what’s really going on.
I like that you mentioned the donation like it’s a bad thing. The notoriety gained by the controversial clock allowed it to sell for 40 times its retail value and all that went to help children, and you whine about it.
You know, you may just have a point with the idea that wearing a clock as a direct insult has some sort of malice. Unfortunately, at this point it’s more than warranted, as Kirbybits has made the first strike. Will the rape clock prompt yet even more retaliation from Kirbybits? I can’t say, but this post seemed to draw a great deal of ire from you, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
Wait shit, I got that wrong; it’s 16 times, not 40. Doing math right after waking up doesn’t work right.
Stochast,
The big reason why i laugh at this whole thing is that the joke wasnt even cornered onto rape. It was aimed for the absurdity of MMO quest lines when its like ‘OH GOD YOU NEED TO SAVE OUR ENSLAVED PEOPLE! PLEASE RELEASE 6 OF THEM’ while there are 100s more still trapped.
The actual act of rape is a terrible thing, but the absurdity of getting upset over a t-shirt about a mythical animal made of dicks just grates me in a certain way.. ontop of the fact that this woman who raised such a huge stink about being a rape survivor and pushed for PAX to pull the shirt down, etc dances in a burlesqe show under the title SIN:LUST. I mean reaaaaaaaaaaalllyy?
Yeah, I know. I read the original comic. Thought it was a good representation of the absurdity of MMO questing. It’s the immature response to the criticism that pisses me off.
But now it looks to me that your comment about her burlesque show means you really think she was just “asking for it”. Just because someone dances burlesque doesn’t mean they can’t talk out against rape. Sex and sexuality has nothing to do with being raped. Rapists do.
I would never wish rape on anyone Stochast.
The humour is in the irony for me that a woman who really pushed hard not only for a t-shirt removal but also removal of booth babes from PAX is also a woman who dances burlesqe. You get upset over sexualization of women and call out that you are going to be uncomfortable at a trade show since there is so many men around you, yet you dance on stage sexualizing yourself in front of many men.
Again don’t take this as I advocate rape or say what terrible things have happened to her she had coming. That is not my view point at all and never will be for anyone.
The big thing also with the rape clock is that its funny to me from the internet generation. Also as I do play the internet, i expect to offend people and give laughs to others. If i wasnt offending people I wouldnt be doing my job. But thats just being a showman to me.
It’s not about the “sexualization of women” or the percentage of men, but about a need to create a space where women feel welcome. A con where women are seen only as sexual objects or where people make jokes involving rape isn’t a comfortable place for some women. It’s a part of the rape culture that kirbybits talks about, where a woman may feel discouraged, exploited, or even afraid because of the content of the environment around her.
Her dancing is something different entirely. She chooses to dance and create a space where she can express her sexuality safely. She doesn’t dance in the halls of a convention center, but at a theater full of people who are expecting an event that celebrates sexuality. It’s a different situation where she may feel empowered, not exploited.
I do appreciate that you are willing to explain your perspective about your humor, and that you own that it cam be offensive. I may not agree with it, but at least you are honest about it.
also one more comment about the clock I wear:
It’s a joke based around Silent Hill’s Pyramid Head. Its not activly saying I SUPPORT RAPE or anything along those lines as even I feel that would be in very poor taste.
You guys are absolutely ludicrous– rape is an essential part to everyday life for the common family. It helps the modern family cook (yes, rape forms canola,) it helped provide lubricant for the steam engines of the 1700′s, it can provide nutrition, it helps bees provide a more peppery-flavored honey, lubricates chainsaws, and even has stemmed a form of biodiesel fuel.
Rape is crucial to many economies and industries, and here we have some overweight uppity girl flpping her donut chute about how you can relate everything to rape, and how rape is bad. This is all while she’s whining about oversexualization of the female gender in one area while promoting it in another. She should be ashamed of herself. Maybe she should read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brassica_napus
On another note, if someone recognized her from her burlesque at a convention, would she immediately cry rape?
“We are happy to have women around in our ‘Gaming world’ but not when your going to raise a shit storm over booth babes and rape jokes.”
So…you “welcome” women, but only if we sit down, shut up, never say anything about what bothers us, and you men get to decide what’s funny, not us? Doesn’t sound too welcoming to me.
Actually, I think it depends on whom is offended, the context of whatever is the subject in which is offensive, and the validity of said claims. For instance…
An average girl gamer walks by, sees a shirt that says, “WTB: HUMAN MEATSOCKET,” and complains about it being offensive. It’s talking about women as nothing but a purely sexual object in which their lives hold no value and can be simply bought as if a store-bought item. I’d say, no matter who got offended by that shirt, this is justified.
Now, let’s say the dickwolves shirt comes up for sale. The original context of the joke used the concept of rape, a violent and horrible crime to whomever has been a victim to it, as a driving-point to their message of how ludicrous MMORPG questing can be. Yes, rape is a horrible thing. A shirt with a fictitious animal in which the concept of rape was the main concept of the joke can be questionable in taste, sure. However, that in my mind still isn’t condoning rape. A shirt saying “Rape isn’t funny… Unless you’re raping a clown.” is condoning rape and offensive. You can blame T-Shirt Hell for that.
To those whom know the joke, they understand the original concept and laugh about how someone made a shirt out of that idea. To those whom don’t know the joke, it’s a ludicrous shirt that uses “dick” infront of an object as if to insult someone (i.e. dick-knob, dick-goblin, etc.) There is nobody in these cases sitting there going, “YEAH, RAPE IS SOMETHING AWESOME AND I SHOULD SUPPORT IT.” If there is, it’s a vast minority that should seek psychiatric help immediately.
What blows my mind, however, is the fact that there’s a question of hyper-sexualization and objectification of women STRICTLY because of these shirts. Because the gaming industry doesn’t use booth babes. G4 doesn’t hire attractive women to keep straight and bi men from the ages of 12-35 paying attention to their shows. If we’re going to point fingers, here, it should be at how the industry has marketed itself, not a t-shirt design.
Also, I don’t believe a burlesque dancer should be complaining about sexualization and objectification over a t-shirt that only condones rape if you take the joke out of context. The nature of her hobby/profession is sexualization and objectification to appreciate the form of a plus-sized woman. While I’m not saying “prostitutes can’t be raped” (nor am I intending to make an equivalence to those who perform in burlesques and prostitution,) I do believe we as people need to learn to pick and choose our battles, and stop using the internet as a soapbox where, “the loudest voice must be right.”
Well Jay there is such a thing as a legitimate complaint or cause, no disagreeing with that.
But then there’s 6 months of feminist shitfitting over such an incredibly nonissue as the word rape in a comic about mythical creatures that the public image of feminists is reduced to the typical feminazi stereotype, spawning a series of rape shirts and turning pax into a dickwolf rally with barely an impact on it’s attendance.
By simply being intolerant rather than carefully or calmly conveying their issues or misconceptions feminists alienated themselves from the gaming community and accomplished nothing but taking a bunch of steps back from anything that could be considered an achievable goal.
And of course saying this is about PA’s reaction is irrelevant because if there wasn’t a shitfit over the comic the reaction would of never happened, chronologically feminists started it and continued it after the PA apology.
According to this “debacle” feminism is a paradox of claiming equality yet promoting inequality and double standards. You’re not special, throw a fit on the internet and your views WILL be placed under scrutiny or ridicule, you can’t fight internet.
Ah, the maturity. It hurts.
